Review: The iPhone on Straight Talk | 9to5Mac.
Just tested my Straight Talk micro sim on 3 devices (up/down in Mbps to same destination same source location):

iPhone 4 – 2.56/0.99 (locked AT&T phone, but sim worked no problem)
iPhone 3GS – 1.54/0.17 (does not support HSUPA)
Droid X2 Global (w/ GSM hack) – 1.76/1.03
vs.
iPhone 4 (AT&T sim & service) – 2.57/0.99

Note 1: you must edit APN settings for data either via jailbreak+tetherme or download the setting from unlockit.co.nz
(I used the former method)
Note 2: this works in a locked AT&T phone

Summary: you lose nothing other than visual voicemail -
The article fails to mention using google voice for voicemail – shocking for a fanboi site.
To people that don’t understand finance the subsidized price offsets with the savings within the first year.
Another way of saying paying double+ for an unlocked device pays for itself within a year.
The unlimited data is rumored to be throttled but not confirmed – but…many people don’t need more than 2GB or to stream video non stop to their phones. ps. your/my AT&T unlimited plan is already throttled as well so drop that argument.

Net: for less than half the month cost this is well worth it and works on any AT&T (i)phone.
